What happens is not as important as how you react to what happens.
Sojourner's Musings of the Day
I find myself a bit intimidated by the level of craftsmanship of my peers at Digital Image Café…while at the same time, intensely inspired and challenged to improve my own skills.
I feel like I’m in some sort of transitioning phase with my art and photography. I have a tendency to get excited about something and skim over the fundamentals so I can jump on to the big stuff that excites me most. But I’m learning that at some point down the road of one’s creative development, such brashness will come to bite you in the butt. I think being grounded in boring fundamentals may well be what separates the pros from the lucky amateurs.
Soooo, I find myself feeling a need to better learn these fundamental technical and software skills that will aid me in achieving what I want to be able to do with my art and photos. I think so far, most of my really good work has just been an artistic eye, sheer luck, and a really good camera. I want to step up now and go from luck to real purpose and skill. That may require some down time from behind the lens, but I think the end result will be rewarding.
This is what I want to be able to do…enjoy:
