What happens is not as important as how you react to what happens.

Installment 3 of our trip to Riverbanks Zoo…the aquarium. Again, as with the birds, I was just so overwhelmed with excitement at all the interesting stuff to look at and photograph, I completely overlooked the identities of what these things are. In fact, I think many of them weren’t identified at all. So again, just enjoy the visual experience!

We’ll start with the gator. The lighting made him look especially ominous.  (OK, so it's a croc...whatever...)


Here’s some jellyfish and some other jelly-like things of unidentifiable nature…





I’ve often wondered where people get their ideas for monsters and such things. I’m convinced many such ideas start with some of these bizarre aquatic creatures, like this ghostly monstrous looking thing to the left of this startfish.


The entire cast from Finding Nemo was here, though I was unable to get a decent shot of Dory. I took LOADS of shots of the clown fish before I could get a good one of the Nemo family…those little fish are quick as lightning and NEVER still!


Here’s a couple of fish you can see at any local aquarium shop, but I’ve never had the opportunity to photograph them in a shop!



With this bright, unusual color, I’d call this starfish quite the fashion diva.


This was a large display of a reef and the typical creatures found there. It’s hard to tell what is alive and what is not. The variety of ‘stuff’ in here was AWESOME!


Of course, various varieties of shark are to any aquarium what the lion is to any zoo…


There may be some pirana in here. I vaguely remember reading something about something in this tank that eats things.


And just when you thought it was safe to go into the water…
