What happens is not as important as how you react to what happens.
Dog bait
It seems every critter I’ve ever owned has been weird in one way or another. I’m not sure if that’s because weird souls are attracted to one another, or if it’s that they BECOME weird after being exposed to my own weirdness over time.
We have all been noticing ANOTHER peculiar behavior of Elliot’s the last few weeks. Many times in a day, one of us will look out the window and notice Elliot frantically digging holes in the yard. He has created quite a few craters around the area of his house over the last few weeks. His obsessive digging is followed by a few minutes of vigorous rooting around in the mud like a pig, at which time he pauses briefly to chew on some indiscernible substance. Then the digging, rooting, chewing cycle is repeated. He has been noticed to continue this weirdness for as long as 2 hours at a time.
Thanks to Aleaha’s unwavering fascination with this behavior, her determination to get to the bottom of this oddity has alas determined the purpose of all this. Worms. Elliot is digging for, and then eating, worms.
What else is a dog to do on a cold, dreary, rainy day? If only people could find such utter bliss in the similarly unpleasant circumstances of our own lives.
